Ramp rate on partial load. The load measure with the best evidence for predicting breakdown is weekly increase in total training. Compute it on cycling only, while lifting volume climbs, and it reads safe. Compute it on everything.

When TrainerRoad is the better call

  • Cycling is the goal and lifting is durability work you are happy to manage yourself.
  • You want indoor structured sessions executed properly with ERG control. Base does not do this and should not.
  • You want a race-phase plan. Base prescribes sessions; it does not build a periodised road season.
